Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan launched
We are thrilled to announce the endorsement and launch of our Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP). This significant milestone marks the official commencement of our journey towards Reconciliation, which began when our RAP Working Group was formed in March 2023.
Since then, we have been diligently working in collaboration with Reconciliation Australia to draft our first RAP, outlining specific commitments and actions aimed at fostering understanding, respect and collaboration with First Nations communities across our organisation.
One truly special aspect of this process has been our collaboration with Nathaniel Chapman, a proud Goenpul / Yagara man from North Stradbroke Island and Brisbane City, also hailing from the Wambia clan of the Northern Territory. Nathaniel, whose work as an artist and designer centres around storytelling, community, culture and Country, has brought his bold and graphic style to create “Shaping the Land”, an artwork that symbolises Apollo's commitment to reconciliation. This piece serves as a powerful visual representation of our journey so far, as well as our dedication to fostering meaningful relationships and creating a more inclusive and equitable future for everyone. The full story behind the artwork is detailed within our RAP Document.
We had the privilege of connecting with Nathaniel through Chris Bassi at Dialogue Office, an expert in engaging First Nations Artists and facilitating all stages of design and installation. We are excited to collaborate with Chris once more on our Alcohol and Other Drugs Residential Treatment Service project in Bundaberg. Chris' invaluable assistance extends beyond cultural engagement; he is also supporting us with integrating a local artist's work into the build, enriching the project with Indigenous perspectives and cultural depth.
